More than 400 people attended the 31st annual retreat for youth and adults with special needs, sponsored by the Virginia Baptist Mission Board.
The event was held at Eagle Eyrie Baptist Conference Center, Oct. 14-16. Of the 405 person attending, 223 were special needs students. While they were in their small groups being led by teachers using the “Ramblin' Road Trip” Vacation Bible School literature from LifeWay Resources, parents, chaperones and teachers were in conferences led by Marci Campbell from Lifeway and Gerri Reynolds from the Virginia Baptist Children's Home and Family Services.
One of the highlights of the retreat was the talent show, in which many of the students shared their talents with the group. Another highlight was the Hee Haw Hootenanny presentation by the faculty and led by Mark and Mary Buckner and Barry Green. Green and his wife, Anne, led the square dancing. On Sunday morning the Kelly/ Cates Bellringers from Fredericksburg provided special music during the worship service.
