STAFF CHANGES

Sean Brown, to Wedgwood Community Church, Seattle, Wash., as pastor.

Dennis Burton, to Wingate (N.C.) Baptist Church, as interim pastor.

Perry Dixon, to Highland Baptist Church, Louisville, Ky., as associate pastor to youth and their families.

Alexis Fuller-Wright, to Christ Congregation, Princeton, N.J., as pastor.

Jonathan Hilliard, to Moffett Memorial Baptist Church, Danville, Va., as pastor. He comes from the pastorate of First Baptist Church, Gretna, Va.

Carmella Jones, commissioned by American Baptist International Ministries to serve as school chaplain in Hungary. She serves on the clergy team of University Baptist Church, College Park, Md.

Robbie Parker, to First Baptist Church, Washington, N.C., as interim pastor.

Janice Rule, to First Baptist Church, Waynesboro, Va., as director of weekday preschool.

Susan Spangenberg, to Pocahontas Bassett Baptist Church, Bassett, Va., as pastor. She comes from Starling Avenue Baptist Church, Martinsville, Va., where she served as minister of youth and children.

Daryn Bunce Stylianopoulos, to First Baptist Church, Needham, Mass., as pastor.

Matt Wilson, to College Park Baptist Church, Winston-Salem, N.C., as minister of senior adults and family recreation. 

RETIREMENTS

Fred Anderson, announcing plans to retire as executive director of the Virginia Baptist Historical Society and the Center for Baptist Heritage & Studies, effective June 30. He became the first full-time executive director of the Historical Society in 1979. For over 30 years he wrote columns on Baptist heritage for the Religious Herald.

Wally Holt, retiring after 14 years as pastor of First Baptist Church, Macomb, Ill. 

ORDINATIONS

Bridgette Poag, ordained to ministry on Feb. 12 by First Baptist Church, Dalton, Ga., where she serves as children’s minister.

Daryn Bunce Stylianopoulos, ordained to ministry on Jan. 21 by First Baptist Church, Jamaica Plain, Mass.

Lesley-Ann Tommey, ordained to ministry on Jan. 22 by College Park and First Baptist Church in Greensboro, N.C.

DEATH

Emile Amin Antoun, 85, died Jan. 16 in Falls Church, Va. He was the founder of the Arabic congregation of Columbia Baptist Church in Falls Church in 1986. The Ambassadors for Jesus Arabic ministry is still an active and vibrant part of Columbia Baptist and serves the needs of a large Arabic-speaking population in Northern Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Suzy; sons, Adel, Amin, Philip and Nader; and grandchildren.
