Virginia Baptist Ministry Assistants schedule spring conference at Eagle Eyrie

NewsJim White  |  March 16, 2010

RICHMOND, Va. — The Baptist Ministry Assistants of Virginia (BMAV) will hold its spring 2010 conference April 27-30 at Eagle Eyrie Baptist Conference Center.

Two tracks will be offered. Sandra Sartor, ministry assistants specialist/ consultant from LifeWay Christian Resources, will lead the Certified Ministry Assistant class. This program enables the support staff of church, denominational and ministry offices to understand the ministry role to which God has called them; discover and apply professional methods and attitudes; appropriately use their creativity and initiative in introducing innovative procedures and technology; and encourage professional development in ministry and office skills that will impact church and ministry growth.

For those who have completed the certification class, Adriene Smith, LifeWay certified ministry instructor, will led two skillshop courses.

The “Understanding Myself and Others” skillshop will provide guidance in becoming the person God intended by introducing your younger self and discovering God’s original design. You will learn how your moods affect your emotions. You’ll discover your personality traits and learn how to work with different personalities. You will develop acceptance and emotional maturity.

“Records Management Techniques for the Ministry Assistant” will provide hands-on training in preparing files, recording membership and keeping accurate financial records as well as completing your ACP and much more. If you have trouble finding your files or pulling needed records, this skillshop is for you.

Contact Eagle Eyrie for room and meal reservations until March 27 to make your own reservations. A state conference reservation form can be downloaded from their website, www.eagleeyrie.org to mail, or make your reservation online.

You must state you wish rooms at Cedar Crest Hotel and you are with the BMAV. Double occupancy rates: $209 per person. Add $20 per person per night for private room. This includes lodging, meals and linens.

If you have questions, call conference coordinator Joan Newsome at 757-562-7745 or email [email protected] and note BMAV in the subject line.
