RICHMOND, Va. — The Virginia Baptist Mission Board launched a newly-designed website in January, offering a fresh look and additional resources.
By visiting www.vbmb.org (the same URL as the previous version), users have access to a tremendous amount of current, helpful information about Virginia Baptists.
“Our hope is that we are presenting a vibrant and compelling message of who we are as Virginia Baptists — true to our history of missions and service; moving into a future of joyful and creative freedom in the Spirit,” said Paige Peak, assistant executive director and chief communications officer.
Information about the new site:
Why was there a need for a redesign? “We wanted the new site to be reflective of the positive effect Virginia Baptists provide to the world through our collaborative efforts and cooperative missions,” said Thom Stanton, VBMB web services administrator.
Who can benefit from the new site? Church members, pastors, church staff members and anyone else who would like to know more about what is going on with Virginia Baptists need to bookmark it. The site is essential in helping people discover the resources and opportunities available to them and in connecting them with the appropriate people as they pursue their ministries.
What makes the new site so much better than the original? The organization of the new site is a lot more user friendly. Information is easy to find because it is now arranged by type; users no longer need to understand the way VBMB teams are organized internally to find what they’re looking for. Headings include “missions, discipleship, leadership, evangelism, and worship,” so users can quickly find what they need.
“On the surface and underneath, everything was moved, cleaned and refreshed, or created from scratch,” says Stanton. The new site is a completely new experience.
What else does the VBMB offer online? The new site is a work in progress — a big part of a series of constantly improving services and resources for Virginia Baptists. Facebook users can visit the VBMB page (search Facebook pages for Virginia Baptist Mission Board). Click “Like” to receive timely updates from the VBMB, and watch for future opportunities to participate in social networking with other Virginia Baptists. If you use Twitter, subscribe to the VBMB feed for similar updates.
What are some resources I can find on the site? At www.vbmb.org/resources you will find downloadable publications and other tools for church administration like bulletin inserts, Cooperative Missions promotional materials, video clips, online event registration and monthly updates from John Upton along with many other useful items.
