DALLAS (ABP) — Nina Pinkston has been named interim executive director-treasurer of the Woman's Missionary Union of Texas. She replaces Carolyn Porterfield, who resigned last October.
Texas WMU president Nelda Taylor said Pinkston was selected because of her strong administrative skills and passion for mission work in Texas and around the globe.
“Nina is a strong missions leader,” Taylor said. “She is a praying woman who has been on the mission field, so she understands the missionary heart. She has a world perspective and a heart for Texas.”
Pinkston and her husband, Glen, have served as religious-education consultants for the European Baptist Convention. In those roles, they helped churches in 24 countries strengthen Sunday school programs, stewardship efforts, deacon ministries and children's ministries.
Pinkston, a member of Travis Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, recently completed a four-year stint as vice president of Texas WMU. She holds a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University and a master's degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
A Texas WMU personnel committee is still searching for a permanent replacement for Porterfield.
