Jim Heiligman, pastor of First Baptist Church, Castroville, Texas, ordained to ministry on April 13 by the church.

Michael McMahon, student associate at First Baptist Church, Tulsa, Okla., ordained to ministry by the church on April 6.

Karen Pruette, ordained to ministry by First Baptist Church, Plymouth, N.C., on April 6. 

Adam Wilson, ordained to ministry by NorthStar Church, Blacksburg, Va., on April 6. He is Northstar’s minister of discipleship.


Mary Louise Robertson Reynolds, 89, died April 1 in Nashville, Tenn. She is predeceased by her husband, William “Bill” Jensen Reynolds who served as head of the music department at the SBC’s Baptist Sunday School Board in Nashville, Tenn., for many years. They were active at First Baptist Church, Nashville, where she taught Sunday school and served on the church library staff. She was a copywriter for Abingdon Press of The United Methodist Publishing House for several years. She is survived by two sons, Timothy and Kirk; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.


Page Marriner, 50 years, as accompanist for East Highland Park and New Highland Baptist churches. She began her professional musical career at East Highland Park in 1964. In 1998 the church relocated and the name was changed to New Highland Baptist Church.

John Chandler, 15 years, with the Virginia Baptist Mission Board. He joined the staff as leader of the Courageous Churches team in 1999. Since 2007 he has served as leader of the Ray and Ann Spence Network for Congregational Leadership.

Teresa Russell, 10 years, as minister of music at Keystone Baptist Church, Lynchburg, Va.

Sterling Severns, 10 years, as senior pastor of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Richmond, Va.
