Ray Ammons, concluding his tenure as pastor of First Baptist Church, Gastonia, N.C., effective May 31.

Mark Hughes, concluding his tenure as pastor of Berea Baptist Church, Rockville, Va.

Bob Griffith, to Oakhurst Baptist Church, Asheboro, N.C., as interim pastor.

Allen Jackson, to Fieldale (Va.) Baptist Church, as interim pastor.

Sherri Moulden, concluding her tenure as associate pastor at First Baptist Church, Plainfield, Ind.

Richard Suggs, to Snyder Memorial Baptist Church, Fayetteville, N.C., as minister of music. He previously served as minister of music at First Baptist Church, Bowling Green, Ky., for 15 years.

Ellen Gordon, concluding her tenure as music ministry coordinator at Hull’s Memorial Baptist Church, Fredericksburg, Va.

Amy Becker, to Ashworth Road Baptist Church, Des Moines, Iowa, as team pastor for missions and outreach. 

Kendra Sumler, concluding her tenure as youth pastor at White Oak Baptist Church, Clayton, N.C., to continue her education.


J. Monty Fox, announcing plans to retire as pastor of Keystone Baptist Church, Lynchburg, Va., effective Aug. 31, following 34 years of ministry there.

Welton Gaddy, retiring as president of the Interfaith Alliance, effective the end of 2014. An ordained Baptist minister and pastor for preaching and worship at Northminster Baptist Church in Monroe, La., he has led the Washington-based organization started in 1994 to counter the Religious Right.

Teresa Russell, retiring as music director of Keystone Baptist Church, Lynchburg, Va., following 10 years of ministry there.


Lee Gray, to be ordained to ministry on May 18 by St. John’s Baptist Church, Charlotte, N.C., where he serves as minister for youth and young adults.

Scott Jones, ordained to ministry on May 11 by First Baptist Church, Keokuk, Iowa, where he serves as youth pastor.

Ginny Richardson, to be ordained to ministry by Second Baptist Church, Richmond, Va., on May 24. She is pastor for youth and children at Vienna (Va.) Baptist Church.

Christian Collins Winn, ordained to ministry on April 27 by Calvary Baptist Church, Minneapolis, Minn.


Windell Ray Patterson, 84, died April 1 in Martinsville, Va. He served as pastor of churches in Virginia for 40 years. He served as moderator of East River Baptist Association. He is survived by his wife, Edith Turner Patterson; son. Stephen Wayne Patterson; and sister, Erma Louise Turner. 

Lewis Eugene Wall Sr., died May 8 in Roxboro, N.C. During his 60 years in ministry, he served as pastor of Laurel Fork Baptist Church, Bluefield, W.Va.; Witt Baptist Church, Morristown, Tenn.; Immanuel Baptist Church, Durham, N.C., Roxboro (N.C.) Baptist Church; Athens Drive Baptist Church, Raleigh, N.C.; Baptist Temple Baptist Church, Reidsville, N.C.; Hester Baptist Church, Oxford, N.C.; and Clement Baptist Church, Hurdle Mills, N.C. He was the first pastor of North Main Baptist Church, Danville, Va., and served as director of missions for the Dan River Baptist Association. He was predeceased by his first wife, Jane. He is survived by his wife, Janine Bradshaw Wall; and two sons, Lewis E. Wall Jr. and Andrew D. Wall.

Keith Williams, 10 years, as pastor of Falling River Baptist Church, Brookneal, Va.
