Susan Brennan, to Chesterfield Baptist Church, Moseley, Va., as youth director.

Kevin Howard, to Bethel Baptist Church, Midlothian, Va., as youth minister.

Barbara Romine, to Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Glen Allen, Va., as children’s ministry assistant.

Georgia Risenhoover, to Baptist General Convention of Texas, as associate endorser for chaplaincy relations. She will also serve as state coordinator for “Hands on Ministry,” a teaching certification program for volunteer chaplains. 


Omer Hancock, retiring after 33 years as director of in-service training and professor of church ministry at Hardin-Simmons University, Abilene, Texas. Prior to his service at HSU, he served as pastor of churches in Texas and Oklahoma.

Sharon Ludwig, retiring on June 27 as associate minister for Christian formation at Second Baptist Church, Memphis, Tenn., after nearly 18 years of service there.

Al Sholar, retiring as pastor of Open Arms Fellowship, Creedmoor, N.C.


Perry Dixon, ordained to ministry on May 31 by Highland Baptist Church, Louisville, Ky.

Jennifer Jindrich, to be ordained to ministry on June 8, by First Baptist Church, Carrollton, Ga., where she has served for the past 10 years as associate pastor of children.

Aaron Mussat, ordained to ministry on May 18 by Seventh & James Baptist Church, Waco, Texas.

Katie Mussat, ordained to ministry on May 18 by Seventh & James Baptist Church, Waco, Texas.

Evan Rowe, ordained to ministry on May 18 by Midway (Ky.) Baptist Church, where he serves as minister of worship. 

Jason Stuart Smith, ordained to ministry on June 1 by Calvary Baptist Church, Washington, D.C., where he serves as youth minister.


Leonard Charles Vimpeny, 87, died May 31 in Powhatan, Va. In the early 1950s he was director of civil defense for Aiken County, S. C. In 1965 he became the first full-time pastor of Muddy Creek Baptist Church, Powhatan, Va., while also serving as pastor of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. Before retirement he pastored four additional churches in Virginia and West Virginia. In retirement he was director of missions for the Staunton River Baptist Association. He also founded and served as director of SERVE (a thrift store), DAWN (a food supply thrift store) and God’s Storehouse in Danville, Va. He is survived by his wife, Edna Marie Huband Vimpeny; four daughters, Rebecca Hatcher, Ann Hatcher, Lynn Higgs and Virginia Lewis; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
