Recent church staff changes, anniversaries, ordinations and deaths within the moderate and progressive Baptist network.

STAFF CHANGES

Charles C. Adams, to Hartford Memorial Baptist Church, Detroit, Mich., as senior pastor.

Tom Boone, to Spring Creek Baptist Church, Oklahoma City, Okla., as organist.

Craig Christina, to Baptist General Convention of Texas, as associate executive director, effective Dec. 31. He is pastor of Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church, Dallas.

Regina Conner-Johnson, to First Baptist Church, Weaverville, N.C., as director of church and community ministries. She comes from Zoar Baptist Church, Shelby, N.C., where she served as youth minister.

Cameron Dahl, to Faith Community Church, Gambrils, Md., as associate pastor of worship. He comes from Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Glen Allen, Va., where he was associate pastor for worship arts and missions.

Greg Denton, to Melrose Baptist Church, Roanoke, Va., as interim minister of music.

Jordan Dickens, to Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Roanoke, Va., as associate pastor for youth and children.

Carol Ann Forgus, to First Baptist Church, Shelby, N.C., as interim minister of music.

Jim Frankle, to Red Hill Baptist Church, Roanoke, Va., as pastor.

Diane Lipsett, resigning as minister of faith formation and education at Knollwood Baptist Church, Winston-Salem, N.C., effective Oct. 31, to devote more time to her position on the religion faculty at Salem College.

Richard Phillips, to South Venice Baptist Church, Venice, Fla., as interim pastor.

 

RETIREMENTS

Charles G. Adams, retiring after more than 50 years as senior pastor of Hartford Memorial Baptist Church, Detroit, Mich.

Judy Travis, retiring after 10 years as pastor of Trout Creek (N.Y.) Baptist Church.

 

ORDINATION

Allison Joy Rogers, ordained to ministry on Sept. 29 by St. Matthew’s Baptist Church, Louisville, Ky.

 

DEATH

John W. Fox, died Sept. 18 in Roanoke, Va. He served as pastor of churches in Arkansas, Indiana and Virginia. He was pastor of Fincastle (Va.) Baptist Church; Zion Hill Baptist Church, Fincastle, Va.; Belmont Baptist Church, Roanoke, Va.; and Bethel Baptist Church, Salem, Va. He later served as director of missions for the Henry County Baptist Association and as a regional mission resource consultant for the Baptist General Association of Virginia. He served as trustee of Hope Tree Family Services in Salem, Va. He played an integral part in founding Raceway Ministries in Martinsville and the National Fellowship of Raceway Ministries, for which he served as the first president. He is survived by his wife, Juanita; two daughters, Cheryl Winston and Patricia Hutcherson; and four grandchildren.
