The Trump administration is trying to deport Yehonatan Ovadia, a Satmar Hasidic religious teacher in Rockland County, New York. His alleged offense: taking part in a 2023 protest against an Israeli flag flown outside a town hall. Ovadia, who says he did not remove the flag, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and paid a fine, but then his religious worker visa was revoked and he was detained by ICE. If the government wins, he may be sent to Israel, the country he was protesting.
