A former Union University student accused of killing his fiancée on the Baptist-related school’s campus in February is scheduled to stand trial May 12-14, 2015, on charges of first-degree murder and tampering with evidence.
Charles Pittman, 22, was arraigned Nov. 10 on charges formally handed down the week before by a grand jury. Pittman, a Christian ministry major and former member of the golf team at the Tennessee Baptist Convention-affiliated university, is charged with murdering 21-year-old Olivia Greenlee, a music education major from Dyersburg, Tenn., on the night of Feb. 11-12 and staging her death to look like a suicide.
Pittman has pleaded not guilty and is represented by a public defender. According to local media, he has until March 16 to change his plea.
