RICHMOND, Va. — Gannon Sims has been named coordinator assistant for Fresh Expressions, a church revitalization movement coordinated by the Virginia Baptist Mission Board.
Sims will work closely with Chris Backert, Fresh Expressions coordinator in the U.S., and Ben Jamison, coordinator for Virginia.
Sims holds a bachelor of arts degree from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and a master of divinity degree from Duke Divinity School in Durham, N.C. He formerly was employed by the U.S. State Department and while there was a member of First Baptist Church in Alexandria, Va.
Sims also will assist on a volunteer basis with the Baptist collegiate ministry in the Fredericksburg, Va., area, working with his wife, Carey, who was recently named collegiate minister at the University of Mary Washington.
