MURFREESBORO, N.C. — Chowan University will host its fourth annual SeniorFest March 25 with special guest speakers, live music, informative breakout sessions, a buffet lunch and door prizes.
This year, the popular senior adult-oriented event hosted by the Baptist-affiliated school will feature special guest speakers John Upton, executive director of the Baptist General Association of Virginia and president-elect of the Baptist World Alliance, and Kelly Swanson, storyteller/comedian and motivational speaker.
Breakout sessions include “Pain Care Intervention,” led by Brent Chafin from Roanoke-Chowan Hospital; “Christian Perspective for Estate Planning,” led by the North Carolina Baptist Foundation; “Season of Spiritual Renewal,” led by Chowan campus ministers Mari Wiles and Jennifer Janney; “Legal Issues Facing Seniors,” led by attorney Charles Revelle III; and “What Your Grandchildren are up to — Computers,” led by Chowan’s executive director of information technology Jay Howell.
Live music performances will feature the Potecasi Creek String Band, the Chowan Singers and Chowan’s student piano prodigy Josiah Antill.
Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. on March 25 at the McDowell Columns building on the Chowan campus; all parking and facilities are handicap accessible.
The registration fee of $12 includes a buffet lunch. Reservations are required and should be made by March 18.
