MONTEGA BAY, Jamaica — The Caribbean Baptist Fellowship, one of Virginia Baptists’ international mission partners, installed William Thompson as its new president and Everton Jackson as executive secretary/treasurer during the organization’s General Assembly March 18-21 in Jamaica.
The assembly of the CBF, one of six regional fellowhsips of the Baptist World Alliance, brought together Baptist leaders and delegates from various countries in the Caribbean for worship, fellowship, study and decision meetings.
Thompson, who is president of the Bahamas National Baptist Missionary and Education Convention, is a vice president of the BWA. Jackson is a past president of the Jamaica Baptist Union and senior pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church in Montego Bay.
Thompson succeeds former president Burchell Taylor, while Jackson succeeds Peter Pinder, who served as executive secretary/treasurer for 15 years, having been elected to that position in 1995.
Other leaders elected include vice presidents Lincoln Conner from St. Kitts, Dominic Dick from Guadeloupe, and Jacinth Wood from Barbados.
