Bob Wheeler has announced plans to retire as minister of music/associate minister of Broadus Memorial Church, Charlottesville, effective Dec. 31.
Bob Swader has retired as pastor of Purdy Church, Emporia.
Bill Jeffcoat has announced his retirement as pastor of Two Rivers Church, King George.
Ordination
Daniel J. Palmer was ordained to the gospel ministry by Green Ridge Church, Roanoke, July 30. He attends Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
People
Michael Simpson is celebrating his 30th anniversary as minister of music and 35th anniversary as organist at Ginter Park Church, Richmond. A celebration is planned for Nov. 6 at 10:30 a.m.
DeathRetired Virginia Baptist pastor Joe Richard Prince died Oct. 12 in Lynchburg at the age of 84. He was a minister for over 55 years and had served as pastor of Virginia Baptist churches in Onanock, Central Hill, Axton and Bedford. At the time of his death he was a member of Timber Ridge Church, Bedford. He is survived by his wife, Willodene Weathers Prince; three children, Diane Martin, Joe R. Prince Jr. and Dennis W. Prince; two brothers; three sisters; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were private.
