Trump Bible gets special editions, and you’re invited to pay to pray

NewsMark Wingfield  |  January 7, 2025

The God Bless the USA Bible now comes in three special editions, including one commemorating Donald Trump’s second inauguration as president of the United States.

Another special edition of the leather-bound KJV Bible is sold as “The Day God Intervened” edition commemorating Trump surviving an assassination attempt. Yet another special edition, priced at $1,000, features Trump’s signature inside.

The inauguration edition launched on Jan. 6, the day Trump’s election victory was certified in Congress and the fourth anniversary of Trump inciting the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. This limited edition is available only through Jan. 19, according to a news release.

That news release explains: “This special edition features custom embossing on the cover, highlighting the inauguration date and recognizing Donald J. Trump as the 47th president of the United States. The God Bless the USA Bible has become a cherished keepsake among patriots and political supporters since its initial release, earning widespread attention as a symbol of faith and patriotism.”

This is one of several ways Trump and his allies are monetizing his return to the White House.

As Jack Jenkins reported for Religion News Service, “Trump’s transition team is reportedly planning an interfaith prayer service the day before his inauguration, where participants can worship alongside the businessman and his wife, Melania. But those who want to join need to weigh the price of prayer: Tickets to the service will be awarded only to those who donate at least $100,000 to Trump’s inaugural ceremonies, or who raise $200,000.”

Axios reported on a seven-page prospectus that listed the prayer service alongside other donor-only events, such as a “cabinet reception” with Trump’s nominees and “candlelight dinner” with Trump and his wife, Melania.

The Sunday interfaith “One America, One Light Sunday Service,” with the Trumps will happen at a location not yet disclosed. Publicity for the slate of events says: “Morning interfaith service featuring our revered United States Military bands with President Donald J. Trump and Mrs. Melania Trump.”
