The people of Northstar Church in Blacksburg would like to publicly thank the people who came to our town as a part of the disaster relief temporary child care unit the week following the tragedy at Virginia Tech. This fine group of experienced leaders chose to help with Northstar's children's ministry program on Sunday morning, April 22, when we met in the facilities of the Baptist collegiate ministry.
Coming from Roanoke, Newport News, Richmond, Chesapeake and parts of the Eastern Shore they joined with Northstar's own workers to set up classrooms, lead in children's worship, conduct Bible studies and coordinate children's small groups. These leaders also made it possible for a number of our regular workers to be in worship services that day as we remembered the victims of the shooting and sought to comfort a grieving community.
Thanks to all Virginia Baptists for providing this wonderful ministry.
Bob Jackson, Pastor, Northstar Church
