WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (ABP) — The North Carolina state affiliate of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship has hired an associate pastor from Wilmington to serve as its missions coordinator.
The group's coordinating council called Linda Marie Jones to the post, introducing her during a Jan. 19 meeting at Ardmore Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. For the past 10 years, Jones has served on the staff of Winter Park Baptist Church in Wilmington, N.C. Most recently, she was the church's associate pastor for missions and outreach.
Jones is a registered nurse, and was involved in church planting and partership missions in Connecticut before her move to North Carolina. At Winter Park, she coordinated what a CBFNC release called “a comprehensive missions ministry with local, national and global expressions.” The release went on to note that Jones' church “is recognized as a model for the missional church concept.”
Larry Hovis, the group's coordinator, praised Jones in the statement. “Linda brings the right combination of missionary passion, spiritual maturity, interpersonal sensitivity and organizational ability to work with the missions council, volunteer leaders and local churches to share more effectively the gospel of Jesus Christ in North Carolina and around the globe,” he said.
Jones holds a master of divinity degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. According to CBFNC, she and her husband will relocate to Winston-Salem and she will begin work around March 1.
