ATLANTA (ABP) — Due to floods that overwhelmed Haiti and the Dominican Republic last week, the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship is donating $12,000 to aid relief efforts.
World Vision, the largest Christian relief and development agency in the world, will receive $10,000 from CBF to benefit Haiti, and Baptist World Aid will receive $2,000 from CBF to benefit the Dominican Republic.
According to a CBF press release, the village of Mapou, Haiti, was hit the hardest, and World Vision workers said the entire village was under water.
Besides suffering from intense floods, Haitians lack health care and have health problems such as malaria, malnutrition and an AIDS/HIV epidemic, CBF said.
