NASHVILLE (ABP) — Teenage Christians are as likely to steal songs electronically as other music fans, according to a new poll.
In an online survey of about 1,500 teens, commissioned by the Gospel Music Association, 77 percent of born-again Christian teenagers said they had illegally obtained or shared music, compared with 81 percent of all other teens.
Computer users pirate music by copying CDs, illegally downloading music or uploading music to the Internet to share with others. Industry experts say music piracy accounts in part for recent drops in music sales, including Christian music.
The Christian music industry has started an anti-piracy campaign, “Millions of Wrongs Don't Make It Right,” which offers legal and moral reasons to discourage teens from stealing music.
