ATLANTA (ABP) — Rick Bennett of Orangeburg, S.C., has been hired as associate coordinator for faith formation for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.
Bennett was most recently pastoral educator for First Baptist Church in Orangeburg, S.C., where he worked since 2001. He began his duties with the Atlanta-based CBF Aug.2.
Bennett is part of the CBF congregational life team lead by Coordinator Bo Prosser. His duties will include managing the Fellowship's partnership with “Companions in Christ” and Upper Room Ministries, part of the CBF's spiritual formation network.
“Rick brings the highest quality of Christian education leadership to this new position,” Prosser said. “He is a fine thinker and will lead these development processes with intentionality and integrity.”
“My primary focus at CBF,” Bennett said, “will be resource development — providing resources that will support the ministry of local congregations — whether that be someone just coming into the church, ministers of education, or ministers needing resources to use with small groups, like 'Companions in Christ.'”
Bennett previously worked for churches in North Carolina and Virginia. He and his wife, Rebecca, have two children, Tyler Jacob, 3, and Samuel Ethan, 6 months.
