The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Governing Board approved a task force on clergy sexual misconduct June 21 in a final meeting prior to this week’s CBF General Assembly in Greensboro, N.C.

The CBF will collaborate with Baptist Women in Ministry in the task force formed in memory of Diana Garland, founding dean of the Baylor School of Social Work who died last year from pancreatic cancer.
The task force will focus on prevention of clergy sexual misconduct, creating and distributing policies, education and after-care for survivors of clergy sexual misconduct. An initial task force is co-chaired by BWIM Executive Director Pam Durso and Stephen Reeves, associate coordinator of partnerships and advocacy for the Decatur, Ga.,-based CBF.
On Friday Reeves and Durso will lead a General Assembly workshop on “Creating Safe Spaces: Addressing and Responding to Clergy Sexual Misconduct.”
