Baptist Women in Ministry and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship are working in partnership to produce a resource addressing sexual misconduct by clergy.
BWIM Executive Director Pam Durso and Stephen Reeves, associate coordinator of partnerships and advocacy for the Decatur, Ga.- based CBF, began Feb. 8 collecting church policies related to minister or lay leader misconduct, specifically those with guidelines about harassment or extramarital behavior.
Durso said the end result will be a best-practices policy example for clergy and lay leaders similar to previous BWIM resources related to ordination and maternity leave.
Durso said the collaboration isn’t in reaction to any particular occurrence but rather “a proactive step forward to address an issue that BWIM and CBF both care about.”
