DANVILLE, Va. — For the third consecutive year, Averett University has broken records in new student enrollment — bringing the school’s total enrollment to its highest level since 2000.
The Baptist-affiliated school in Danville, Va., added 360 new students this fall, it announced in a press release. The total number of students is now almost 1,000.
Since 2008, Averett’s undergraduate enrollment has increased by 14 percent and new student enrollment by 18 percent.
Recently the school moved up seven slots in the 2013 college rankings by U.S. News & World Report, placing 27th among regional colleges in the South. It also earned a “military friendly” status from G.I. Jobs magazine, which evaluates colleges’ supportive environment for active duty military and veterans.
Last year Averett renewed its ties with the Baptist General Association of Virginia.
