RICHMOND, Va. — Nine locations across Virginia will host this year’s Service in September mission projects, coordinated in the state by the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Virginia.
Service in September is a national mission project sponsored by Current, the organization of young Cooperative Baptist Fellowship leaders. The event was formerly known as “Eleven-on-11,” and was held on 9/11 in effort to do something constructive on a day that is associated with destruction. The first year Sept. 11 fell on a Saturday and Baptists in 11 states participated.
“Since then the project has grown and it has become a way for Baptists across all ages and all states to connect and serve God in whatever way their own local community needs,” said Rob Fox, CBFVA’s field coordinator.
CBFVA is partnering with Current, local churches and academic campuses to host nine Service in September mission gathering points.
