Renowned children's educator Catherine Stonehouse is slated to lead a seminar entitled “Children Matter” at Eagle Eyrie Conference Center near Lynchburg on Friday, Sept. 15 from 1-5 p.m.
Stonehouse is professor of Christian education at Asbury Seminary in Asbury, Ky. She is author of Joining Children on the Spiritual Journey: Nurturing a Life of Faith and contributing author to Children Matter: Celebrating Their Place in the Church, Family and Community.
“We are so excited and delighted that Dr. Stonehouse will lead us in this learning time,” said Diane Smith, children's ministry strategist for the Virginia Baptist Mission Board. “I can't imagine that anyone interested in children coming to faith and growing in their faith wouldn't participate in this seminar.
“We are targeting pastors, children's ministers, ministers of education/spiritual formation, directors of weekday ministries — all persons who have input into the design and implementation of churches' children's ministries.”
Stonehouse will look specifically at guidelines for designing a children's ministry as well as various models of children's ministry.
