DHS’s ‘Homeland Heritage’ Campaign Highlights Danger of Innocence Myths of a White Christian America

Read the full story: Religion Dispatches

As a habit I don’t follow the social media of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). It’s a scroll of nationalistic propaganda and exaggerated warnings about criminal aliens, a set of lies that attempt to drown us in fear by scapegoating immigrants as a threat to our collective well-being. This campaign has been wildly and dangerously successful, and though this current version is exceptional in its baldly, false claims, the practice of portraying immigrants as a threat to U.S. sovereignty is a well-inked throughline of this nation’s history.
