Former pastor Rick R. Hurst has been named director of donor relations of the Virginia Baptist Foundation Inc.
Hurst was pastor of the former Weatherford Memorial Baptist Church in Richmond.
Hurst has been pastor of churches in Georgia, Kentucky and Virginia. He is a graduate of Shorter College in Rome, Ga.; Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky.; and Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of Christian Education in Richmond.
Hurst has served as an adjunct faculty member of the John Leland Center for Theological Studies, Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond and Shorter College. He also has been active in both the Richmond Baptist and Floyd County (Ga.) Baptist associations. He has written Sunday school lessons for the Christian Index, the newsletter of the Georgia Baptist Convention, and Paul's Letter to the Saints in Richmond, a publication of the Richmond Baptist Association.
He brings extensive experience and a passion for Christian ministry to his new position at the Foundation, said Foundation president Ron Hall.
“Dr. Hurst possesses refined pastoral skills which will serve him well in his new capacity at the Foundation,” said Hall. “I am convinced that he will excel in Foundation work and life.”
Hurst will assume his new responsibility on Nov. 1.
