STAFF CHANGES

• Daniel “Dan” B. Cromer, to Emmaus Church, Poquoson, as pastor.

• Greg McCormick, to Woodland Church, Arrington, as pastor, effective June 20.

• Dennis Joyner, to Reedy Creek Church, Freeman, as pastor.

• Robert Lewis, resigning as pastor of Lakeside Church, Richmond, effective Aug. 1

• Dave Holloday, resigning as pastor of Floyd Church, Floyd.

MISSION MOMENT: Zoar Baptist in Deltaville had a “Love Your Neighbor as Yourself” day at the home of Eddie and Louise Burton on April 24. The Burtons home will be one site for Impact Virginia teams coming to Mid-Tidewater Association the week of July 18. Twenty-four members from Zoar worked on the three acres of yard at the home preparing for the Impact team. Members trimmed, pruned, mowed, hauled debris, worked in flower beds and did other outdoor tasks. They called it an “extreme makeover.” The team is pictured above (left to right): front row, Ben Parson, Bill Bailey, Eddie Knapp and Eddie Harrow; second row, Phil Smith, Shannon Gimbert, Pam Green, Savilla Pleasants, Joyce Smith, Henry Lackey and Carol Morrell; third row, Les Hockman, Ernie and Virginia Ashford, Patricia Prince, Terry Harrow, Emily Bailey, Ken Green, Jimmy Johnson and John Snow.

• John Johnson, to Black Creek Church, Mechanicsville, as interim pastor.

• Terry Larkin, to Downtown Church, Alexandria, as interim pastor.

• Jim Wood, resigning as student minister at Downtown Church, Alexandria, to accept a position at Columbia Church, Falls Church.

• Brian Bower, to Belmont Church, Charlottesville, as associate pastor intern.

• Stephen and Jami Hunt, to Ash Avenue Church, South Boston, as children and youth ministers.

• Mike Logan, resigning as youth minister at Harrisonburg Church, Harrisonburg, effective July 31.

ORDINATION

• Shaun Draughn was recently ordained to the gospel ministry by High Point Church, Stuart. He has been called as pastor of Collinstown Presbyterian Church.

CHURCH NEWS

• Calvary Church, Virginia Beach, will host the Reggie Sadler Family in concert on July 10 at 7 p.m.

• Cool Spring Church, Mechanicsville, has named Larry Frakes as pastor emeritus for his 25 years of ministry there.

• The 25-member combined IMAGE youth choir and Jubilate! young adult chorale of Derbyshire Church, Richmond, will present worship concerts Sunday, June 27, at 8:30 and 11 a.m. as part of their 2010 Capital Tour.

• Fieldale Church, Fieldale, will celebrate its 91st anniversary June 26-27. Pastor Frank Gribble will be in concert on Saturday at 7 p.m. Worship will begin at 11 a.m. on Sunday with a covered-dish luncheon.

• First Church, Honaker, will celebrate its 150th anniversary June 13 with a service at 10:30 a.m. and fellowship meal.

DEATH

• Robert L. “Bob” Baker Sr. died May 3 in Portsmouth. He was the founding pastor of Fairwood-Agapé Church in Portsmouth. A memorial service was held May 8 at Bethany Church in Portsmouth.

ASSOCIATIONAL NEWS

• Dan River Association will host a “Bringing Hope to Halifax” revival on June 27-30 beginning each night at 7:30 p.m. in the Halifax County High School auditorium. Mark Becton will be evangelist.
