STAFF CHANGES

• John Snow, to Zoar Church, Deltaville, as pastor, effective March 1.

• Gregory W. Wissinger, to Beaver Dam Church, Troy, as pastor, effective March 1.

• Thomas S. Larson, to Fox Hill Road Church, Hampton, as pastor.

• Larry Widener, to Montague Church, King George, as pastor.

• Bill Corey is now serving as pastor of Antioch Church, Sandston.

• Gary Threatt, resigning as pastor of New Bridge Church, Sandston, to become senior pastor of the International Evangelical Church in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

• Troy Hickman, resigning as pastor of LaCrosse Church, LaCrosse.

MISSION MOMENT: The congregation of Chester Baptist Church in Chester recently filled 250 shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. The shoe boxes are filled with school supplies, hygiene items, toys, a Bible and other items for needy children around the world. • Joleane Presley, to Ox Hill Church, Chantilly, as minister of youth and children.

ORDINATION

• Edward S. Preston was ordained to the gospel ministry by Northside Church, Mechanicsville, on Feb. 22.

CHURCH NEWS

• Community Fellowship Church, Gate City, celebrated its 15th anniversary on Feb. 22. A covered-dish luncheon followed the morning service.

• Fairystone Church, Stuart, will hold revival services Feb. 25-27 with Fred Hawks as guest evangelist.

• Fellowship Church, Chester, will hold Heritage Day on March 1. The celebration will include the dedication of its new fellowship hall. Lunch will follow the 11 a.m. service.

• Northside Church, Mechanicsville, will host a concert by “The Coachmen” on Sun., March 8 at 6 p.m. For additional information, call 804-746-4952.

• Rivermont Church, Danville, will hold revival services March 1-4 with Hank Meadows as guest evangelist.

• West End Church, Suffolk, will be re-creating an 18th century Baptist worship service similar to the style in colonial Baptist churches on March 8. This heritage worship service is to commemorate the founding of the first Baptist church in Amsterdam, 400 years ago in 1609, and also the founding of the West End congregation in Suffolk 80 years ago. UPCOMING CONFERENCES

• Bill Barker, director of Appalachian Regional Ministry and a small church pastor for 32 years will be leading the conference, Leading the Smaller Church: Understanding the Dynamics of Ministry in the Smaller Church, at Bethel Church, Scottsburg, on Monday, March 2 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Dinner will be provided for $5.00. • Dover, Fredericksburg, Goshen and Shiloh associations will host a Church Communications Seminar led by Scott Vaughan on Sat., April 4 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at Chancellor Church in Fredericksburg. Vaughan will be leading a very practical examination of the church communication system, providing counsel on organizing staff and volunteers, creating an honest communications budget and giving general projections on what to expect in terms of success. Cost is $10.00 per person with a maximum cost of $50.00 per church. For reservations call 540-829-6947 or email [email protected].
