• Anne Tomas has retired as pastor of missions and evangelism at Columbia Church, Falls Church, after serving there for 13 years.
• Allen Hopkins has retired as pastor of Carrow Chuch, Virginia Beach.
• John Sheppard has retired as pastor of Community Fellowship Church, Gate City.
DEATH
• Former Virginia Baptist pastor Cecil G. Irwin Sr. died Sept. 25 in Roanoke. He had served as pastor of Crystal Springs Church, Roanoke, and churches in Georgia, Indiana and Kentucky. He is survived by his wife, Martha Ann Irwin; a daughter, Vicki Smith; a son, Cecil Irwin Jr.; and three grandsons. A memorial service was held Sept. 29 at Grandin Court Church, Roanoke.

• Orange Church, Orange, will host the Miller Trio in concert on Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. The trio consists of Bill Miller, minister of music at Second Church, Richmond; Alan Miller, minister of worship and music at Orange Church; and Brent Miller, headmaster at Carmel Christian Academy at Carmel Church. They will be accompanied by Russell Wilson, pianist for the Richmond Symphony.
