I’ve been on the staff of three American Baptist Churches in my life. Let me tell you about the most awkward part of the process of getting hired at one of those: negotiating salary and benefits. I’m not a bashful guy by any stretch of the imagination. I mean, I talk to groups of people on a regular basis. It’s not a career path for a shrinking violet.
