Columbia Baptist Church started two gardens during the spring of 2010 for the purpose of “demonstrating to our food pantry clients how to grow fresh vegetables and herbs on their own to supplement the grocery items they receive from the pantry” and to supply its pantry with limited herbs and vegetables to distribute through the pantry. The garden and food pantry is part of Columbia’s world hunger ministry with a mission to “spend ourselves helping the hungry in our community.”
