News
Stuart (Va.) Baptist Church recognized the years of service given by its instrumental musicians, Cecil Akers and Becky Nowlin, on Feb. 10. Akers, a retired banker, started substituting at the church organ in 1963 and became full-time organist in 1965. Nowlin, a teacher at Stuart Elementary School, started playing the piano when she was in the 9th grade. Due to their long tenure, Akers and Nowlin have served with four of Stuart’s directors of music. On this special occasion, certificates, corsages and a luncheon were presented in their honor.
The Resource Center, a resource to churches, agencies and individuals in ministry, will relocate to Kingsley Hall at The Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University, in Richmond, Va., at the conclusion of the academic year.
