RICHMOND, Va. — Heritage Day was celebrated at Lakewood Manor, a Virginia Baptist Homes community, on Oct. 22 with recognition of 25 long-time residents and 15 long-time employees. Among the 25 residents were four who are over 100 years old: Lola H. Joyce, Hugh T. Busey, Ida E. Crowder and Margaret K. Carleton (pictured at left).
Recognition of residents and employees was given by Jackie Brooks, president of the Residents’ Council and Jim Jacobsen, administrator of support services. Randall Robinson, president of the Virginia Baptist Homes, was speaker for the occasion.
A reception for visitors and guests, provided by the Virginia Baptist Homes Foundation, followed the program. An exhibit of photographs of historical significance at Lakewood Manor was available for viewing. The Heritage Committee consisted of Marty Beeman, Nancy Elliott, Gil Piercy, Marie Piper, Claire Rosenbaum and Wayne Varner.
