BERRYVILLE, Va. — Berryville Baptist Church participated in Operation Inasmuch recently as 101 members went into the community to help others and make friends.
“Sometimes actions speak louder than words,” says Rose Staples, chair of Berryville’s missions committee. “We decided to take what we preach on Sunday to the community and put it into action.”
Children decorated cupcakes and shared with with the police, firemen and post office workers. Others crafted greeting cards and shared them, along with stuffed animals, with the residents of the Golden Living Center, Rose Hill.
Teens carried groceries at Food Lion and a youth Sunday School team served breakfast at the Salvation Army in Winchester.
A team led a hymn sing at Greenfield Assisted Living. The Sunshine Baskets team made fruit baskets for shut-ins of the Clark County Senior Center. “We Care” kits of toiletries and small gifts were taken to residents at Washington Squart apartments.
Several women at the Godfrey House Assisted Living were pampered with salon treatments and then treated to a tea party at the Berryville Baptist parsonage.
Pastor Dan Stanley led a team to the streets of Berryville where they gave water bottles to those on foot and in cars stopped at an intersection. A variety of other services were offered the community.
A celebration service was held May 2 with a slideshow of the projects and a luncheon as members celebrated the ways God worked through the hearts and hands of the volunteers.
