ARLINGTON, Va. (ABP) — Trustees of the John Leland Center for Theological Studies have named Mark Olson, former pastor of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church in Fayetteville, N.C., as the second president of the Virginia school.
Olson, who was unanimously elected, will replace Randall Everett at the only accredited Baptist seminary near the nation's capital. He will take his post in July.
After graduating from Wake Forest University and receiving a master's degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Olson received his doctorate from the University of Virginia.
He has worked as a pastor in churches in Virginia and served as moderator of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Virginia and as first vice president of the Baptist General Association of Virginia. Olson was also on the board of trustees of Averett University and the presidential board of advisors for Campbell University.
Olson and his wife, Linda, have two daughters.
