Mario Murillo, a Pentecostal evangelist and self-proclaimed prophet who preaches about sin, healing and right-wing politics, stars in a new film that opened in hundreds of theaters March 9.
I Am Living Proof focuses on three people who claim they were miraculously healed during a 2022 tent revival meeting Murillo held in Colorado Springs.
“In a world filled with uncertainty, this film is a beacon of hope,” Murillo said in a statement. “It powerfully illustrates that faith can lead to miraculous change in our lives.”
Promotional materials say the film “delivers evidence that miracles are still happening today,” but its proofs are unlikely to convince skeptics.
Along with fellow pro-Trump prophets including Lance Wallnau, Andrew Wommack and Hank Kunneman, Murillo has promoted the lie that Donald Trump won the 2020 election and has condemned Democrats as demonic.
In 2024, he preached about breaking “demonic strongholds” he said had kept the GOP from enjoying more electoral victories.
During the Colorado Springs revival meeting featured in his new film, he insisted that pastors “should be speaking out in our pulpits against the left, against the Democrat Party.”
Recently, Murillo came out in support of Elon Musk’s efforts to slash federal budgets in a video he posted called “The Biggest Scam in History.” The video is filled with falsehoods about fraud and waste at USAID, an agency Musk and Trump have largely shut down.
Among the falsehoods Murillo promoted in the video was the widely circulated but thoroughly debunked claim that USAID spent $50 million on condoms for Hamas in Gaza. There is no evidence for the claim. Musk has backed away from the claim while Trump has upped the ante, claiming USAID spent $100 million on Hamas condoms.
Murillo adds additional false claims about government spending in “SO YOU DON’T LIKE OUR BILLIONAIRE? WHAT ABOUT YOURS?,” a recent blog post on his website: “Dear leftists, so you don’t like our billionaire? What about your favorite billionaire? You say the Republican Party is the party of billionaires? You all claim that President Trump wants to give money to billionaires? These are ridiculous lies. Guess what, the majority of billionaires voted for Kamala Harris.”
Murillo claimed USAID and other agencies have paid billionaire George Soros $270 million over the past 15 years.
“Reckless is exactly what America was under your failed Woke regime,” he wrote in the post. “You hate democracy because it is democracy at work that is about to expose the profound corruption the Democrat party has embedded in every government agency. You hate Elon Musk because he is an integral part of democracy at work.”
Murillo claimed USAID and other agencies have paid billionaire George Soros $270 million over the past 15 years. “And what did George do with the money? He paid for BLM and Antifa riots that resulted in millions of dollars in damages and people were killed. He funded the election of radical district attorneys who kept putting murderers, arsonists and rapists back on the street. He did everything he could to undermine America.”
Murillo offers no evidence or citations for his many spurious claims.
His 2024 book, It’s Our Turn Now, promotes Christian dominionism, claiming “political, corporate and media villains have had their day, and their say. But it is our turn now.”
“It is our turn now because the misery caused by the Left and Wokeness will ignite the largest influx of conversions to Christ we have seen in our lifetime. The billions of dollars spent to erase the Christian faith will prove to be an utter waste. Instead, we are entering a season of Christian influence in places where it has been totally absent.”
Murillo formerly appeared on the FlashPoint TV show featuring pro-Trump “prophets” but announced earlier this year he would stop regularly appearing as a panelist due to “false prophets.” Murillo maintains close ties to other FlashPoint personalities and has continued holding tour events with Wallnau, seeking to break “demonic strongholds” supposedly preventing the GOP from winning elections.
