CLIFFORD — Clifford Baptist Church in Amherst County is abuzz following its annual revival services held the first week in August. Children joined in this year for the first time with their own revival service called, “Kid’s Razzle Dazzle.”
“We have never done anything like this before,” says Pastor Mike Fitzgerald. “Children joined us in the sanctuary with their parents for opening prayer and songs before a children’s sermon led by MaryBeth Cobble. There was a lot of excitement and laughter as the children participated and then left with Cobble for their own service.”
Fifty children ranging in school ages from kindergarten through 6th grade joined Cobble, chairman of deacons Ivan Johnson and youth helpers for four nights of prayer, snacks, games, movies and Bible stories.
“It was amazing to watch these kids come together with a purpose,” says Cobble. “Each night we had a Jericho march around and throughout the church as we prayed for revival to rain down on the people inside. We shouted praises to God as we pounded drums, tooted horns and jingled bells with great enthusiasm.”
Clifford Baptist plans to continue with the Kid’s Razzle Dazzle for future revivals. “It had a marked impact on the children and the families who attended, said Fitzgerald.
