As I read through some U.S. Department of Homeland Security documents in August that showed DHS spied inside churches in Minnesota and Michigan, I reached out to pastors of the congregations. None knew about the spying until it showed up in court documents and news reports. One of them made a comment to me on the phone that particularly stuck out.
