Robin Stoops named ABC regional minister for Nebraska

NewsABPnews  |  December 9, 2010

OMAHA, Neb. (ABP) — Veteran Midwestern pastor Robin Stoops has been named the new regional minister for the American Baptist Churches of Nebraska, according to American Baptist News Service.

Stoops, currently pastor of First Baptist Church of Norfolk, Neb., will begin work in his new position Jan. 1, 2011.

“Robin Stoops will be a great leader for ABC/Nebraska,” said Susan Gillies, who is retiring as the executive minister of the region, one of more than 30 regional, statewide and metropolitan associations of churches that relate to the American Baptist Churches USA.

“He has a tremendous love for God and God’s people, a passionate commitment to the gospel and a deep and abiding joy,” Gillies continued. “He is also wonderfully creative. Nebraska Baptists are blessed!”

A graduate of Ottawa University and North American Baptist Theological Seminary (now Sioux Falls Seminary), Stoops has served as pastor of churches in Kansas, Iowa, South Dakota and Nebraska. He is president of the Norfolk Area Ministerial Association and was named 2008’s “Pastor of the Year” by American Baptist Men.

He and his wife, Kathy, have three adult children and five grandchildren.
