RICHMOND, Va. (ABP) — Trustees at the Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond announced March 20 their election of Ron Crawford as president of the 18-year-old seminary.
Crawford, 55, was approved unanimously by trustees and will take the position July 1.
“BTSR has a wonderful heritage and a bright future,” Crawford said in a press statement. “I look forward to working with the BTSR family as we move forward and build on the institution's strengths. Together, we can do much for the kingdom.”
The pastor of College Park Baptist Church in Orlando, Crawford is a native of Virginia and former trustee of the seminary. He has masters and doctorate degrees from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Crawford will succeed Thomas Graves, who retired last fall due to health reasons. Graves has battled multiple sclerosis for several years.
Crawford previously served as pastor of Lakeside Baptist Church in Richmond, Va., and was president of the Baptist General Association of Virginia. He led First Baptist Church in Asheville, N.C., before moving to Orlando.
The seminary at Richmond is a moderate Baptist seminary with more than 300 students. It is affiliated with the Baptist General Association of Virginia and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.
