GLEN ALLEN, Va. — Jeff Ginn has resigned as executive director of the Southern Baptist Conservatives of Virginia to become senior pastor of a Louisiana church, Baptist Press reported June 27.
Ginn, who has been SBCV’s executive for three years, will end his tenure on July 31, assuming the pastorate of Istrouma Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, La., the next day.
Istrouma has a membership of about 3,700 and an average worship attendance of about 1,500, according to Baptist Press.
Ginn was pastor of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, Va., before his election as SBCV executive in 2008. Earlier he was a missionary with the Southern Baptist Convention’s International Mission Board and director of the Schenectady, N.Y., campus of Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary.
The 500-church SBCV was organized in 1996 by congregations which disagreed with the theological stance of the Baptist General Association of Virginia and with what they said was the BGAV’s diminished ties to the Southern Baptist Convention.
