A seminary professor was elected June 7 as executive director of the Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware, also known as the Mid-Atlantic Baptist Network.
Kevin Smith, assistant professor of church history and Christian preaching at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and teaching pastor at Highview Baptist Church in Louisville, Ky., will replace Will McRaney, who resigned last June in what he claims was a forced termination prompted by interference from the North American Mission Board.
Smith, a native of Washington, D.C., who grew up in the suburban Prince George’s County, Md., last fall was elected first African-American president of the Kentucky Baptist Convention.
