Janice Anderson, a longtime member of South Main Baptist Church in Houston, has been elected chair of the board of directors of Baptist News Global.
Anderson, founder of Access Sciences Corporation, a technology consulting and business services company in Houston, succeeds outgoing chair Kyle Reese, pastor of Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Fla., who rotated off the board at a meeting April 22-24 in Charlotte, N.C.
Chris Caldwell, professor of the sociology at Simmons College of Kentucky and former pastor of Broadway Baptist Church in Louisville, Ky., will serve as vice chair. Harriet Harral, a member of Broadway Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, continues as secretary/treasurer.
Anderson joined the BNG board in 2011 and has been serving as chair of the personnel committee. An industry expert in enterprise information and content management technology, she founded Access Sciences in 1985 and today is chair of the board.
BNG, formed in a 2014 merger of the Religious Herald and Associated Baptist Press, is governed by a national board of directors composed of laypersons and clergy from a cross-section of mainstream Baptist life.
