STAFF CHANGES

Jim Baliff, resigning after 10 years as interim minister of music/associate pastor at First Baptist Church, Ringgold, Ga., effective this summer.

Jack Causey, concluding his tenure as ministerial transitions coordinator for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of North Carolina, effective March 31.

Brian Cunningham, to Briarcliff Baptist Church, Atlanta, Ga., as worship pastor.

Michael Friday, to Union Baptist Church, Mystic, Conn., as interim pastor.

Jim Johnson, resigning as senior pastor of The Church at Clarendon, Arlington, Va., effective in March.

Shannon Kiser, to the U.S. Fresh Expressions, as director of training. She comes from the 1001 New Worshipping Communities Initiative of the Presbyterian Mission Agency.

Suzette Mason, to First Baptist Church, Tallahassee, Fla., as minister of children.

Katie Medlin, to Trinity Baptist Church, Raleigh, N.C., as minister to preschoolers and families. She previously served as minister to children at Macedonia Baptist Church in Raleigh.

Glen Money, to First Baptist Church, St. Petersburg, Fla., as senior pastor, effective March 27. He comes from the pastorate of First Baptist Church, Monroe, Ga.

Mallory Monroe, to Park Road Baptist Church, Charlotte, N.C., as children’s coordinator.

Michelle Nickens, to Washington Plaza Baptist Church, Reston, Va., as pastor. Previously she served as a ministerial staff member at Metro Baptist Church, New York City, and director of adult education for Rauschenbusch Metro Ministries.

David E. Roberts, completing his service as interim field coordinator for Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Virginia.

Van Smith, concluding his tenure as director of finance and operations at First Baptist Church, Decatur, Ga.

Joshua “Josh” Stowe, to First Baptist Church, Arlington, Texas, as minister of pastoral care.

RETIREMENTS

Allen Bujno, retiring as pastor of Santa Cruz (Calif.) Community Church.

Steve Langley, retiring as senior pastor of Gardena Valley Baptist Church, Gardena, Calif.

ORDINATION

Kelsey Stillwell, ordained to ministry on Feb. 21 by First Baptist Church, Commerce, Ga., where she serves as minister to families and youth.

DEATHS

Donald W. Nixon, 61,died Feb. 8 in Monroe, La. He was well known for his exceptional creativity and advocacy for the arts. He served as minister of music at Melrose Baptist Church, Roanoke, Va.; Parkview and Northminster Baptist churches in Monroe; and Willow Meadows Baptist Church in Houston. He was a visual artist and guest lecturer at the Baylor Institute of Religion and Houston Baptist University. He was the originating director of The Centre for Performing and Visual Arts of the Coweta County School System in Newman, Ga. He is survived by his wife, Catherine; daughter, Jordan B. Nixon; and mother, Helen Jordan Nixon.

Sidney J. Rowland, 93, died Feb. 7 in Brisben, N.Y. He had a long tenure of service with American Baptist congregations in New York. He served for 10 years as an associate pastor; 22 years as a pastor; and 11 interim pastorates in retirement. He is predeceased by his wife, Marjorie. He is survived by two daughters, Jeannie Klonowski and Barbi Rowland; two sons, James and William; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
