STAFF CHANGES

Todd Combee, retired military chaplain, endorsed as first chaplain from the Baptist General Association of Virginia in new partnership for chaplain endorsement with Baptist General Convention of Texas. He is pastor of New Bethesda Baptist Church, Mechanicsville, Va.

Carol Hoyt, to First Baptist Church, Wallingford, Conn., as director of music ministries.

Lauren Lorinez, to Colchester Federated Church, Colchester, Conn., as pastor, effective May 21.

Darryl Roberts, to Nineteenth Street Baptist Church, Washington, D.C., as senior pastor. He comes from the pastorate of Mount Welcome Missionary Baptist Church, Decatur, Ga.

Michael Shockley, concluding his tenure as pastor of First Baptist Church, Hillsville, Va. 

RETIREMENT

John Tinsley, retiring after 26 years as pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church, Cascade, Va.

DEATHS

Paul Marshall Debusman, 84, died Feb. 27 in Louisville, Ky. He was ordained as a minister by Emanuel Baptist Church, Wichita, Kansas. For nearly 30 years he served as a librarian at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Ky., retiring in 1997. He is survived by his wife, Amelia; two daughters, Melanie Lynn Debusman Bunger and Amelia Ann Debusman McCarty; and six grandchildren.

Dennis K. Myers, 66, died Feb. 26 in Petersburg, Va. He was active in the Petersburg Baptist Association, where he served as moderator and on several committees over the past 37 years. He was instrumental in the development of Camp Kehukee. He was coordinator of missions for Southside Baptist Association for 12 years. He is survived by his wife, Constance, and a brother, George. 

KUDOS

David Burroughs, president and founder of Passport Inc., receiving the 2017 Jack Naish Distinguished Educator Award, given by the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship for outstanding leadership and achievement in Christian education.

Sarah Murray, minister to families with children at First Baptist Church, Griffin, Ga., and past moderator of CBF Georgia, receiving the 2017 Young Baptist Leadership Award, presented by the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.

STAFF ANNIVERSARY

Danny Quirin, 20 years of youth ministry at Bonsack Baptist Church, Roanoke, Va.
