Danny Chisholm, to First Baptist Church, Clinton, Tenn., as pastor. He comes from the pastorate of University Heights Baptist Church, Springfield, Mo.

Rob Covington, to Bonsack Baptist Church, Roanoke, Va., as minister of youth.

Eric Durden, to Oak Hall Baptist Church, Sandston, Va., as interim pastor.

Anthony Jones Jr., to First Baptist Church, Manakin, Va., as pastor.

Kem Lindsay, to First Baptist Church, Tellico Village, Tenn., as associate pastor.

Terry Nester, to Riverland Road Baptist Church, Roanoke, Va., as pastor.

Kyle Reese, resigning as senior pastor of Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Fla., to become deputy director for OneJax, an institute of the University of North Florida.

Jennifer Rutter, to Tellico Village (Tenn.) Community Church, as associate pastor.

Todd Smith, to Cornerstone Christian Church, Richmond, Va., as interim pastor.

Michael Tercero, to First Baptist Church, San Angelo, Texas, as minister to students and young families.

Sydney Webster, to Trinity Baptist Church, San Mateo, Calif., as pastor.

 

RETIREMENTS

Wally Mayo, retiring after 22 years as minister of music at Melrose Baptist Church, Roanoke, Va.

Hal Melton, retiring after 19 years as associate pastor for missions and senior adults at Trinity Baptist Church, Raleigh, N.C.

Mike Smith, announcing plans to retire as pastor of Central Baptist Church Fountain City, Knoxville, Tenn., effective Nov. 17.

Sonny Strange, retiring after 30 years as pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Jefferson City, Tenn.

 

ORDINATIONS

Matt Beem, ordained to gospel ministry on May 5 by The Baptist Church of Franklin, N.H.

Holyn Ivy-Bogert, ordained to gospel ministry on June 2 by Garfield Park Baptist Church, Indianapolis, Ind.

 

DEATHS

Farrell D. “Dave” Holladay Jr., 67, died May 20 in Richmond, Va. He had served as pastor of Pleasant Hill (N.C.) Baptist Church; Tazewell (Va.) Baptist Church; Bundy’s Chapel Baptist Church, Tazewell, Va.; Union Baptist Church, Gloucester, Va.; First Baptist Church. Concord, N.C.; Cambria Baptist Church, Christiansburg, Va.; and Floyd (Va.) Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Deborah; two daughters, Lisa Plunkett and Tara Green; and a granddaughter.

Cessar L. Scott Sr., died April 28 in Portsmouth, Va. He served as pastor of New Bridge Baptist Church, Richmond, Va.; as associate director of campus ministry for the Virginia Baptist General Board (Baptist General Association of Virginia); and for 35 years as executive minister of the Baptist General Convention of Virginia. He served on many state and national boards, including Virginia Union University, Council for America’s First Freedom, the Sunday School Publishing Board of the National Baptist Convention USA, the Virginia Council of Churches, the NAACP Virginia State Conference and the executive committee of the Lott Carey Foreign Mission Convention. He is survived by his wife, Shirleva; a son, Cessar Jr.; and a daughter, Lisa M. Hutchinson.

 

KUDOS

ANNIVERSARIES

Tom Ingram, 25 years with the Baptist General Association of Virginia. He currently serves as minister in residence, traditional worship and church music. For 22 years he was worship and church music specialist and field strategist.

McKenneth King, 25 years as associate pastor of worship at Chancellor Baptist Church, Fredericksburg, Va.

Ron Lithgow, 40 years as director of facilities and senior adults at First Baptist Church, Springfield, Va.

CHURCH ANNIVERSARIES

Burrows Memorial Baptist Church, Portsmouth, Va.; 125 years, May 19.

University Baptist Church, Fort Worth, Texas; 90 years, June 2.
