STAFF CHANGES

Johnny Almond, now serving as pastor of Hull’s Memorial Baptist Church, Fredericksburg, Va.

Darrell Armstrong, appointed by the Baptist World Alliance as its chief administrative officer at the United Nations. He is pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church in Trenton, N.J.

Jim Bain, concluding his tenure after 17 years as music director at First Baptist Church, Detroit, Mich.

Dave Benefield, to Northside Baptist Church, Victoria, Texas, as children’s minister.

Dylan Brendle, to Cornerstone Baptist Church, Warrenton, Va., as student pastor.

Jack Causey, concluding his tenure as ministerial transitions coordinator for Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of North Carolina. He has served in that role since 2007, being the primary contact for churches seeking ministers and ministers exploring new places of service.

Jim Deininger, to Clearfield (Utah) Community Church, as interim pastor.

Pat Ellis, to New Highland Baptist Church, Mechanicsville, Va., as interim pastor.

Alex Gallimore, to Bayshore Baptist Church, Tampa, Fl., as senior pastor. He comes from the pastorate of Hester Baptist Church, Oxford, N.C.

Jim Griffin, to Brookwood Baptist Church, Birmingham, Ala., as director of administration.

Clair Helton, to Lake Shore Baptist Church, Waco, Texas, as minister to children.

Sky Howard, to Tallowood Baptist Church, Houston, Texas, as music and worship associate. He comes from Jersey Village (Texas) Baptist Church, where he served as worship pastor.

Sharon Koh, to the American Baptist International Ministries, as executive director. She is senior associate pastor of mission and community life for Evergreen Baptist Church, Los Angeles, Calif.

Stefanie Litzler, to Shearer Hills Baptist Church, San Antonio, Texas, as minister of children.

Josh Miller, to Highland Park Baptist Church, Austin, Texas, as director of congregational music.

Brittany Moultroup, to CenterPoint Church, Concord, N.H., as worship director. She comes from First Baptist Church, Midland, Texas.

Richard Phillips, completing his service as interim pastor at Bayshore Baptist Church, Tampa, Fl.

Michael Poole, to Abingdon (Va.) Baptist Church, as intentional interim pastor.

Michael Sciretti Jr., concluding his tenure as minister of spiritual formation at Freemason Street Baptist Church, Norfolk, Va.

Todd Smith, to First Baptist Church, Tallahassee, Fl., as minister of community missions.

J. T. Thornton, to Shearer Hills Baptist Church, San Antonio, Texas, as minister of students.

Stephanie Van Leeuwen, to Freemason Street Baptist Church, Norfolk, Va., as director of children and family ministries.

As part of a new staff structure, the Baptist General Association of Virginia has five new field strategists: Darrell Fletcher, Steve Collins and Bob Moore for Southwest Virginia; Brian Williams for the Tidewater region; and Skip Wallace for the Valley region. 

RETIREMENT

Lee Poquette, retiring as minister of music at West University Baptist Church, Houston, Texas, effective May 31. He has served there since 1999. 

DEATH

Judy Taylor, 69, died March 15 in Bolivar, Mo. She was the wife of C. Pat Taylor, the longest-serving president in the 138-year history of Southwest Baptist University and was active on campus and in the Bolivar community. She served as an assistant professor from 1997-2016 at Southwest. She is survived by her husband and two daughters.
