Richard Joyner, the son of a sharecropper in Eastern North Carolina, reminds himself of his father’s wisdom – “Don’t be angry at the land, the farm has not stolen anything from you. It’s the person who has stewardship over the farm. That’s the thief, not the soil. The soil will give to any person.”
